Journal Club: "ReproducibiliTea: Welcome to the Open Science Universe"

27.10.2023

The ReproducibiliTea journal club at LMU Munich continues after a long summer break with the first session for this semester. It will take place this Friday and consists of an introductory session to Open Science. Its purpose is to introduce new people to Open Science and our journal club but also give an overview of the topic for those who are already familiar with it. Of course, we are also happy if people join us who are already experts in the field of Open Science, which will only make the discussion more interesting.

When: Friday, 27.10.2023, 2:30-4:00pm
Where: Room 3322 at Leopoldstraße 13, Munich or via Zoom (Meeting ID: 862 732 7746 / Password: 347052)
Paper: Munafò, M. R., Nosek, B. A., Bishop, D. V. M., Button, K. S., Chambers, C. D., Percie du Sert, N., Simonsohn, U., Wagenmakers, E.-J., Ware, J. J., & Ioannidis, J. P. A. (2017). A manifesto for reproducible science. Nature Human Behaviour, 1, 0021. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41562-016-0021
Suggested reading: Introduction, first section ("The problem") and boxes 1-3, 5 and 6.

Procedure: Two members of the organising team, Laura Goetz and Gracia Prüm, will give an introductory talk on Open Science and the replication crisis and summarise the paper by Munafò et al. There will then be an open discussion where you can contribute your own thoughts and questions. Finally, there will be time to get to know each other and talk in smaller groups.

About the journal club: Here you can find further information about the concept of the journal club.
